"Riders On The Storm" was the last song recorded by the members of The Doors, according to Ray, as well as Jim´s last recorded song to be released (recorded December 1970 - January 1971 - released in June ´71).

According to Robby, it was inspired by the song "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend." The song is played in the E Dorian mode, and incorporates real sound effects of thunder and rain, along with Ray´s Fender Rhodes electric piano playing, which emulates the sound of rain. The song was recorded at the Doors Workshop in December 1970 with the assistance of Bruce Botnick, their longtime engineer, who was co-producing the recording sessions. Jim recorded his main vocals and then whispered the lyrics over them to create the echo effect. The single was released in 1971, shortly before Jim´s death, entering the Hot 100 on 3 July 1971, the day that Jim died.

The Doors' former producer, Paul Rothchild left prior to the sessions as he did not like the album, or the song, calling it "cocktail music". Their engineer Bruce Botnick was selected to produce the album instead.

The band's drummer John Densmore wrote a 1990 book called Riders on the Storm, detailing the story of his life and his time with the group.

Ray Manzarek and guitarist Roy Rogers covered this song as an instrumental duet on their 2008 album "Ballads Before the Rain".

In November 2009, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame under the category Rock (track).

A seguir a Brel, Brassens, Piaf só poderia ser Leo Ferré. Tenho neste caso como nos outros muita dificuldade em escolher uma canção, apenas uma canção, tenho mais de dez que me vêm imediatamente à memória. Dos quatro artistas de que falei aqui este foi o que consegui ver no Coliseu dos Recreios num concerto que não vou esquecer tão cedo !

Entre elas muitas dos grandes poetas que musicou: Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Appolinaire, Aragon, Verlaine entre outros sendo possivelmente responsável por um muito maior conhecimento

Porem para começar decidi que deveria ser uma canção com poema de Leo Ferré também. Mesmo assim ainda tenho o embaraço da escolha.

Esta canção, Avec le Temps é de 1970 fazendo parte de um dos discos mais relevantes de Léo Ferré o duplo album Amour Anarchie . Oiçamaqui esta canção interpretada pelo próprio (foi cantada por outros, inclusivamente a nossa Eugénia Melo e Castro numa das suas canções retoma uma parte desta canção) mas gosto de ouvir na versão "original".

Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr.. It is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to the 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War, and Madame Butterfly's American Lieutenant and Japanese geisha coupling is replaced by a romance between an American GI and a Vietnamese bar girl.

The musical premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in London on 20 September 1989, closing after over four thousand performances, on 30 October 1999. It opened on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre in 1991 and subsequently played in many other cities and embarked on tours.

The musical represented Schönberg and Boublil's second major success, following Les Misérables in 1985. As of September 2011, Miss Saigon is still theeleventh longest-running Broadway musical in musical theatre history.^[1]

The musical's inspiration was reportedly a photograph, inadvertently found by Schönberg in a magazine. The photo showed a Vietnamese mother leaving her child at a departure gate at Tan Son Nhut Air Base to board a plane headed for the United States where her father, an ex-GI, would be in a position to provide a much better life for the child. Schönberg considered this mother's actions for her child to be "The Ultimate Sacrifice," an idea central to the plot of Miss Saigon.^[2]

Highlights of the show include the evacuation of the last Americans in Saigon from the Embassy roof by helicopter while a crowd of abandoned Vietnamese scream in despair, the victory parade of the new communist regime and the frenzied night club scene at the time of defeat.

Many of the major European musicals on Broadway started in the 1980s, including Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Misérables and then included Miss Saigon into the 1990s.

"The Things We Did Last Summer" is a popular song from 1946. The words were written by Sammy Cahn, with the composition by Jule Styne. Several recordings have been made, the most well known of which include versions by Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford and Vaughn Monroe. Dean Martin recorded different versions in his 1959 and 1966 Christmas LPs.

The song, performed by Seth McFarlane, was featured in the Family Guy episode "Love Blactually".

This recording by the Beach Boys is from the 1993 Capitol Records release Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of The Beach Boys.
